Category "Pages"

The (primary) link to "Crones" in the below-header navigation menu is a listing of content given the category "term" JustCrones in the CronesOnly category.

The items seem to appear in chronological order, newest first, by default. Assigning weights to the books seems to have no bearing.

"Teaser" Length

This setting is a pain in the butt.

I can't remember what the default is because I've changed it so many times. There is a "break" command that you can enter on a post-by-post basis.

I finally decided to publish only "Story" items on the front page. Most are short, so breaking it up seemed stupid. I wanted to change it to "unlimited" had had a devil of a time finding the setting again.

So, to change the setting, go to:

Administer > Content > Post Settings

Just a couple of notes to clarify some of the server-specific issues Lisa's encountered.

Primary Links are the navigation links that appear across the page, just under the header.

In some themes, the primary links appear as tabs.

Modules

Administer >> Site Building >> Modules

I have the following Core Modules activated:

• Color

• Contact
• Help

If you want users to be able to send messages to you, you can enable the Contact Form.

• Administer >> Site Building >> Menus

  Find "Contact" and set click enable.

Administer>>Site configuration>>Site Information

Here is where you can set the Site Name, Slogan, Mission, and Footer Information (eg, copyright statement).

Taxonomy Access Control Module

1. Download the module package and use Webmin >> Others >> File Manager to upload and decompress it to /home/yoursite/html/modules.

Using Nancy's recommendations, these are the user configuration settings I have started out with, along with some notes.

Roles
Administer >> User Management >> Roles

Convention: << code >> where << and >> should be single instances, code is the html code, and no spaces are used. An underscore indicates a required space.

Once NotebookHacks was up, and an admin id created, my next question was, "What next?"

1. Download and extract Drupal tarball

2. FTP Drupal files to /mainsite_html
3. Create new database
4. Set RWE permissions for /var/www/html/sites/default/settings.php
   

1. Point your browser to www.yoursite.com/install.php

   It should run an installation script and take you to a page that says the installation is complete.

Now we are going to add the database name, user, and password to the settings.php file so that Drupal can "talk" to the database.

Ensim >> File Manager

Ensim >> Services >> MySQL

Create (empty) Database:

1. To get to MySQL, click on the pencil icon

2. Create New Database
3. Type database name (I used drupal)
4. Click Save

Get the latest version of Drupal (we are running 5.x) from www.drupal.org.

Cynthia's advice is to start with a single site installation, so read on for the walk-through.

   • Each website's files will be in var/www/html. I have dumped NBH's drupal files right into the root of /html.
