Fear Factor

Does the mere thought of actually starting to build a a Household Notebook strike fear into your very soul? You aren't alone. It is a paralyzing terror shared by even seasoned HNer's.

You can do this - and you can create a Household Notebook that is a living, breathing part of your family AND makes your life EASIER. Really. I promise.

I'll share my story ...

I jumped into the HN idea with no fear, and no trepidation - at first. I had been around OrganizedHome
(OH) for a couple of months, and was totally motivated by my first stress-free holiday from the Christmas Countdown.

I came back to OH at the first of the year, and CEO's home page said to Spear the Great White Whale in my kitchen. I did. And, I was proud! So proud, that everytime I opened the refrigerator door to admire my handiwork, little slips of paper on the front would flutter to the floor.

All that stuff I had stuck to the front of the fridge seemed to take the glow off of the achievement.

Back to OH to for a solution! And there it was - What is a Household Notebook? That's what was on my fridge - an unorganized, haphazzard "command central" for my family - all of those telephone numbers and messages, grocery lists, club and volunteer activity schedules, vacation ideas, bills to pay, receipts, take out menus, gift lists and clothing size charts.

It was a simple matter for me to attack this as a problem I could fix. Down it all came, sorted into piles, then transferred to some ofOH's Free Printables or stuck into vinyl protector pages. I didn't worry about sections - I looked at the recommended sections, and then looked at where all of this stuff from my fridge fit.

Over time, my HN has changed has my needs, and my family, has changed. I've added sections, removed sections, and split & combined sections. I have to revisit it and work on it frequently.

It IS scary. And it IS alot of work. But we'll tackle it one step at a time - overcoming fear and taming the information monster!
